12.2.2011 -- American Crystal Board Elects Green Chairman
MOORHEAD, MINN. – December 1, 2011 – Robert Green, 57, St. Thomas, ND was elected chairman at American Crystal Sugar Company’s December 1 Board Reorganization meeting following the cooperative’s annual meeting. A director since 2005 representing the Drayton District, he has been a sugarbeet grower since 1976. Green also serves as a director for the American Sugarbeet Growers Association and served 12 years as a director of the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association.

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has dismissed the charge by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) Local 167G that American Crystal Sugar Company failed to negotiate in good faith. In dismissing the charge, the NLRB cited several specific examples of American Crystal’s efforts to negotiate in good faith as well as examples of the BCTGM’s unwillingness to negotiate.

6.16.2011 -- Clay County and American Crystal Reach Property Tax Accord
June 16, 2011 — Clay County and American Crystal Sugar Company have reached a settlement regarding their longstanding dispute over the property tax valuation of the Company’s factory, technical services center and corporate headquarters in Moorhead, Minn. The agreement was reached by both parties earlier this month and ratified this week by the Clay County Board of Commissioners and the Moorhead City Council.

Neil Widner, 58, a director from the Drayton Factory District, was elected Chairman at American Crystal Sugar Company’s December 3 Board Reorganization meeting. A director since 2000, he previously served as Vice-Chairman of the Board for two years. Widner has farmed near Stephen, Minnesota, since 1973. He serves on the Board of Directors of United Sugars Corporation, the Board of Governors of ProGold Limited Liability Company and as a director for the American Sugarbeet Growers Association.

6.30.2008 -- United States Sugar Corporation Selling All Assets to State of Florida
You may have seen news reports during the last week that United States Sugar Corporation, the largest cane sugar producer in the country, is selling all of its assets to the South Florida Water Management District for $1.75 billion. The reason for the sale is to that the Water Management District wants to convert land used for cane production into holding areas, to allow filtration of agricultural waste, giving increased flows of higher quality water into the Everglades.
